C&R Consulting is a proudly locally owned and operated North Queensland business, having operated in the region for over 20 years. We are deeply committed to supporting the community that supports us, operating sustainably by prioritising partnerships with local businesses and actively contributing to local charities as well as sporting and community groups.
Philanthropic endeavours we have undertaken include
- Sponsoring local sporting events/teams including netball, rugby league and cycling;
- Financially supporting local charities such as the Lions Club, Circus Quirkus, Backyard Buddies (protecting native wildlife);
- Providing scientific staff time to present at schools; and
- Supporting (both financially and with time) local natural resource management bodies (such as the Healthy Waters Partnership for the Dry Tropics).
Furthering our community mission is our commitment to work collaboratively with Traditional Owner (TO) groups and indigenous land councils. C&R regularly engages with TOs to better facilitate the environmental studies we undertake. Such groups include:
- The Wik, Wik Way and Kugu people of western Cape York;
- The Anathangayth, Alngith, Peppan, Thanakwithi and Wathyn people of north-western Cape York;
- The Wangan and Jagalingou people of Central Queensland;
- The Anindilyakwa people of Groote Eylandt, Northern Territory; and
- The Western Yalanji people of Cape York Peninsula.
Additionally, our business is fundamentally about protecting the environment and ensuring sustainable coexistence between human activities and natural ecosystems. Every project we undertake is driven by a commitment to safeguard biodiversity, restore ecosystems, and promote sustainable resource management. We don’t just consult on environmental issues — we actively work to create a lasting positive impact on the planet.
Protecting Ecosystems
- Ecosystem Restoration: We lead efforts in rehabilitating degraded environments, restoring habitats to support biodiversity, and developing land-use strategies to achieve ecological balance.
- Preserving Waterways: As active contributors to the Healthy Waters Partnership for the Dry Tropics, we engage in initiatives to protect and improve the health of local waterways, ensuring that these ecosystems thrive for generations to come.
- Species Protection: Through targeted surveys, monitoring programs, and habitat management, we safeguard threatened and endangered species, preserving their ecosystems from harm.
- Sustainable Operations for a Greener Future:
- Reducing Environmental Impact: From minimising single-use plastics in field operations to selecting fuel-efficient equipment, we ensure that our practices reduce harm to the environment.
- Optimised Resource Use: By consolidating multiple projects in a single mobilisation, we reduce unnecessary fuel consumption, lowering emissions while maintaining operational efficiency.
- Zero-Waste Initiatives: Recycling programs for batteries, cans, and other materials go beyond standard practices, ensuring that waste is minimised and resources are reused wherever possible
