Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project

Supporting the transition of a former mine into a renewable energy hub

C&R have supported the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project since the approvals phase, providing specialist environmental consultancy services to enable the conversion of a former open-cut gold mine into a renewable energy hub. The involvement spans environmental approvals, monitoring and compliance auditing throughout development and operation.

Initial involvement in 2017 included support during the environmental approvals process, with aquatic ecology surveys conducted to assess potential impacts on the Copperfield River. C&R have since delivered the project’s annual receiving environmental monitoring program (REMP), including fieldwork and reporting, to ensure compliance with the Coordinator-General’s regulatory requirements.

C&R have also undertaken construction and operational environmental compliance audits, helping maintain strong environmental standards across the project lifecycle. These efforts align with the project’s focus on sustainable development and responsible environmental management.

Continued involvement in the Kidston project reflects C&R’s commitment to supporting innovative renewable energy initiatives in far north Queensland.
