Fitzroy Australia Resources

Delivering independent, high-quality environmental assessments

C&R have supported Fitzroy Australia Resources for over a decade, delivering a broad range of high-quality environmental assessments across the company’s mining leases and exploration tenements. These assessments have contributed to regulatory compliance and informed strategic decision-making across various stages of project development.

C&R designed and implemented a rehabilitation management plan outlining site rehabilitation strategies, including identification of existing and future rehabilitation areas, success criteria, and final landform design schematics. The plan was developed in accordance with specific environmental authority (EA) conditions and incorporates detailed annual monitoring and reporting requirements to ensure rehabilitation methods remain effective. These monitoring activities have informed the development of the progressive rehabilitation and closure plan (PRCP) for the associated mining operations.

Groundwater monitoring (conducted quarterly) and assessments (conducted annually) are delivered by C&R, with newly established monitoring networks designed to detect, mitigate and measure potential environmental impacts from approved mining activities. This scope of work has also included guidance on EA amendment applications and the preparation of hydrogeological assessments incorporated into the PRCP.

Fitzroy currently produces high-quality steelmaking coal from the Rangal Coal Measures and is pursuing expansion through ongoing exploration and environmental approval activities within its mineral development leases. C&R have conducted detailed assessments of environmental values – including hydrogeology, flora, riparian and aquatic ecology – to evaluate the potential environmental impacts of proposed developments. These assessments consider the magnitude and extent of potential effects, enabling a thorough understanding and management of environmental risks.

C&R continue to deliver independent, high-quality environmental assessments that support regulatory compliance and uphold environmental values. All monitoring, reporting and advisory services are undertaken using a rigorous, science-based approach, aligned with statutory requirements and best-practice environmental management – supporting responsible resource development while protecting the integrity of the natural environment.
